“As He walked by the Sea of Galilee, He saw Simon and Andrew, his brother, throwing a net into the sea, for they were fishermen. Jesus said to them, “Come, follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.” Immediately they left their nets and followed Him.” Mark 1:16-18

We humans, both have followers and follow others.  Some follow political role models, others follow role models in, for example, sports or music.  You yourself may have followers, people who follow you through your work or in social media and you may have your own children who follow you.

Jesus has followers, many followers.  Every human being is called to follow Him.  Not out of coercion but of free will.  You may have recently started following someone on social media.  Someone you think enriches you and you wonder why you did not find that person before.

When a person gets his eyes opened to who Jesus really is, a longing to follow Him is created.  There is something wonderful and almost irresistible about Jesus.  He is both strong and gentle at the same time and He is so alive.  Jesus has not a lack of initiative but is full of creativity, but at the same time so calm and cool.  Jesus is exciting, challenging and at the same time He understands every human being.  Jesus is the one who truly knows humans.  Together with Jesus, there is always hope and a way forward.

Jesus’ disciples followed Him.  And when they followed Jesus, He made them fishers of men.  They went out and fished other people who in turn also began to follow Jesus.  In the encounter with Jesus, miracles happen and the walk with Jesus is a supernatural life.

If you have not yet become a follower of Jesus, you can become one today by telling Jesus that you want Him to enter your heart and reconcile you to God.  Then read more in the Bible, you can start with the Gospel of John.  Follow and believe in Jesus and know that He always leads you on the right paths.  He loves you.

And you who are already a follower of Jesus, continue to follow Him.  He makes you a fisher of men so that there will be even more people who begin to follow Jesus.

“Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” John 14:6

 God bless you.
