“… And Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken from her.” Luke 10:42

Jesus visited Martha and Mary, the two sisters.  Martha took care of serving, fixing and arranging, but Mary sat down and listened to Jesus.

Martha saw the needs and chose to fill them.  Filling needs and taking responsibility is something we all need to do.  It’s a part of life.  Martha chose to serve, but the incident shows that she was also anxious and troubled.  She also asked Jesus if He did not care that Mary let Martha arrange everything herself.  She told Jesus to tell Mary to help her.  But Jesus did not.

Mary had chosen to sit with Jesus.  Mary probably also saw the needs, but she also saw something more.  Mary saw the person, Jesus.  He’s not just anyone.  Jesus did not come to earth to be served, but to serve.  Jesus came to their home to serve them.  He spoke and Mary chose to listen and Jesus said she had made the right choice.

Today you can also make a choice.  You can choose to be with Jesus by reading the Bible.  Let Jesus speak into your life and serve you.  No one else will make that decision for you.  Other people and all the needs and circumstances around you, will definitely not make that decision for you.  But, why not do as Mary – choose the good part.

 God bless you.
