“Often it has thrown him into the fire and into the water to kill him. But if You can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.” Jesus said, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.” Mark 9:22-23
Jesus performed miracles over and over again as He walked the earth. Jesus also taught His disciples and the people. Together with Jesus, completely new possibilities open up. In the verses above, it was about a desperate father whose son was tormented by an unclean spirit.
Jesus took the opportunity to teach the father and you and me. The father was, rightly so, focused on Jesus and Jesus’ faith and ability. Jesus is the one we believe in and from Him flows grace and power. In ourselves we are or have no power. But Jesus wanted to challenge the father and you and me, to believe. Jesus said that all things are possible to the one who believes.
“But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart.” This is the word of faith that we preach:” Rom. 10:8
You do not have to go here or there, to this or that person, to get help. The word of faith that proceeds from the Bible are close to you right now, very close, if you have a Bible. Put your faith in the word of God, put your faith in Jesus, put your faith in God. You can believe and everything is possible to the one who believes.
“For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes in Him will not be ashamed.” Rom. 10:11
Today, Jesus wants to help you take your focus away from the faith of others, to believing yourself. You can believe and see God answer your prayers and perform miracles for and through you. You can go from being dependent on others, to meeting the needs of others with God’s help. It works to believe in Jesus and you will not be ashamed.
God bless you.
