“God, who knows the heart, approved of them, giving them the Holy Spirit just as He did to us, and made no distinction between them and us, and purified their hearts by faith.” Acts 15:8-9
In the Acts of the Apostles chap. 10, while Peter was preaching the gospel to the unsaved crowd, something happened. The Holy Spirit came upon those who listened. No invitation to salvation had been offered and no salvation prayer had been prayed. Yet the Holy Spirit came over the crowd and they began to speak in other tongues and magnify God.
In Acts 15, Peter says that God knows the heart and means the event in Cornelius’ house in chap. 10. God gave His approval by giving the Holy Spirit to those who listened. They were both saved and baptized in the Spirit at the same time. God saw faith in their hearts and He responded to it.
God is the same today. He knows your heart. You do not have to inform God about anything. Do as they did both in Cornelius’ house and in Galatia (Gal. 3: 2, 5), listen to or read the word of God, in faith. God sees that faith and He will purify your heart, give you the Holy Spirit or respond in another way, depending on what you believe God for.
God bless you.
