“Do not work for the food which perishes, but for that food which endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For God the Father has set His seal on Him.” Then they asked Him, “What shall we do that we may work the works of God?” Jesus answered them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent.” John 6:27-29
There is one thing God tells us to do and that is to believe in Jesus. When we believe in Jesus, we receive life and grace from God. Jesus gives us the food that endures to eternal life.
Trying to deserve gifts and life from God is out of the question. That was in the Old Testament under the law. In the New Testament, God makes us deserving of grace, in Christ. Jesus has fulfilled the law, lived a perfect life when walking the earth, and Jesus’ sacrifice and resurrection is perfect. Therefore, when we are in Christ, we receive the grace, life and blessing of God because of Jesus. Therefore, all the glory goes to God.
What we should do is, to believe. Jesus is and has everything we need. And we get to receive it by believing in Him. Jesus loves to give to those who trust in Him.
God bless you.
