“Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” John 14:27
The peace of Jesus
It is possible for every human being to have a real and wonderful peace – the peace of Jesus. Jesus is the Prince of Peace and He gives of His peace to us. It is a peace that surpasses all understanding.
The peace of this world
People who seek peace without Jesus depend on the circumstances. It should be quiet, atmospheric and isolated. They try to achieve a state of mind. This kind of peace is very fragile and volatile.
Peace with God
“Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,” Rom. 5:1
Being justified means to have your sins forgiven and being reconciled to God. That you have been made righteous in Jesus. And this is because we believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God as our Savior. Jesus took our punishment of sin on the cross and was resurrected on the third day. Now Jesus saves everyone who believes in Him. And then we have peace with God. This peace is a state of heart. It goes deeper than the mind and the emotional life. Then you have a peace inside even if it is storming around you.
Do not be afraid
With Jesus in your heart, you can then choose not to worry or to be afraid. And it’s not just some kind of positive thinking or some other kind of technique. When the Prince of Peace Himself lives in your heart, you have firm ground under your feet. You are never alone, even when you are going through tough times and you may not always feel the presence of Jesus. But you can trust in Jesus in all situations, it’s called – faith. Faith has to do with the conviction of the heart, which goes much deeper than living on the basis of your emotions. And faith, it comes from the Bible, the word of God.
God bless you.
