“As he was speaking with them, the champion, Goliath, the Philistine from Gath, was going up from the battle line of the Philistines. And he spoke these same words and David heard them.” 1 Sam. 17:23

Goliath was a warrior but also a picture of our enemy, the devil.  Goliath preached and so do the devil.  From the beginning, the devil has preached against God, the word of God and the people of God.

Just as Goliath mocked and instilled fear through his sermon, so does the enemy today.  His sermons that he wants to fill our minds with are sent to break our faith.  He wants to do it on a personal level, but also for the church as a whole.  His cunning attacks is meant to question God and God’s word, the Bible.  He is a prosecutor who presses down, but he is also a tempter who flirts and wants to seduce.  He does not need to speak with an audible voice but instills thoughts in our minds.  He wants to set up his seminars and conferences in our minds, where he is the preacher.

 The true preacher

But there is another preacher, His name is Jesus.  He is the good shepherd and He speaks to us through the Bible and in our hearts.  May we learn to know who is preaching and to know what to receive and what to resist.

Know, that the enemy can make true claims but he never speaks the truth, because the devil is a liar.  Instead, fill yourself with the word of truth and it will make you see as God sees.  You will be filled with faith and see the possibilities.  Cast out the devil’s preaching series from your life that has made you so discouraged.  Let Jesus’ words fill your heart and mind.  Together with God, we are in the majority and superior.

 You can also preach

The shepherd boy David got enough of Goliath and his defeat sermons.  David had learned to listen to God.  Therefore, he was able to preach, both to his people but also to Goliath.

“David said, “The LORD who delivered me out of the paw of the lion and out of the paw of the bear, He will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine.” And Saul said to David, “Go, and the LORD be with you.” 1 Sam. 17:37

“The Philistine said to David, “Come to me, and I will give your flesh to the birds of the heavens and to the beasts of the field.” Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword, a spear, and a shield, but I come to you in the name of the LORD of Hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have reviled.” 1 Sam. 17:44-45

There is an invisible battle for the people of the world today.  Goliath mocks and wants to get God’s people to back.  For example, his sermons are “The gospel does not work where you live” and “Christians should just be silent”.  Unfortunately, he has spread these messages efficiently and tirelessly.  Many have heard these messages over and over again in their minds.

It is time for a David generation now who says stop and stop listening to this poison and instead spread the message of truth.  The truth needs to be proclaimed both to the world and to God’s people.  God wants to save all people.  But it starts with you and me.  That we allow God speak into our lives and that we pass it on.

 God bless you.
