The greatest sacrifice in world history and at the same time, the greatest victory, took place at the cross of Christ, at Calvary

Many know that Jesus died on the cross. But not everyone knows why Jesus died on the cross.

First of all, Jesus is not just like anyone else, for “God (Jesus) was revealed in the flesh,” 1 Tim. 3:16

And, Jesus came to give His life by free will, out of love for you and me. “He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.” 1 Joh. 2:2

The great exchange

Jesus died on the cross for the sake of our sins. He took our place and offers us, His life. “God made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” 2 Cor. 5:21 On the cross, Jesus was made to be sin for us and when we receive Jesus in our heart, we become righteous (as if we never sinned). This is an act by God.

This is the remedy for our bad conscience and nagging need of recognition. This  is the remedy to our “polish the surface” behavior and striving for harmony.

Because of what Jesus has done for us, we become reconciled to God. We receive grace (favour that we don’t deserve but get anyway), God’s endless love and recognition.

Grab hold of the hand of Jesus

“In this is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins…We love Him because He first loved us.” 1 John 4:10, 19

On the third day Jesus was raised from the dead. He defeated death, sin and the devil. His hand is stretched out toward you, right now. Grab hold of His hand, through praying in faith. The power of Jesus to save you, is available now. “For, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord (Jesus) shall be saved.”” Rom. 10:13

When we receive from God first, good works and a transformed life will follow. If you start in the wrong end, that you shall perform first, it is called – dead works. Receive and allow the love of God to transform you – genuine Christian life.

God bless you.
